Gathered Worship On Sunday Mornings
Because we have to maintain a reasonable physical distance from each other for at least two or three more weeks, we will be worshiping online with each other rather than in the sanctuary together. On the 29th of March and the 5th of April, you can log onto Zoom at 10:00 for a video conference call. You can download Zoom ahead of time for free and then follow this link to join on Sunday mornings: https://zoom.us/j/376740114 If you can’t make it to Zoom, then you can see the facebook and web page later with the recorded service. Because we will all be in our pj’s on our own couches, I think we will call this the Church of the Pajamas. I would like all of us to remember that this is not the first time the church has been unable to gather, and it won’t be the last. Even though we can’t be God’s gathered people, we are all still very much God’s people. I encourage each of us to pay attention to how we can be God’s people in the world in the next few weeks and seek the movement of the Spirit in our daily lives. Godly Play will continue online thanks to the amazing Michelle Cottrell, please check the facebook page for these lessons. Our music program at the church is suspended for now as we are not gathering together. We hope to find a new normal to live into soon. Even though we are not able to meet, tithing and giving are still an important part of how we worship and support each other. Please consider sending your offering to the church via mail or our new PayPal account, search First Presbyterian Church Newport.
Easter Morning
We are unsure at this moment what Easter morning will look like for us as God’s gathered people. Most likely the space restrictions will still be in place, so we will need to find different and creative ways to worship that morning. The worship committee from the church will continue to keep you posted on what this will look like. We will also let you know of other online worship experiences you may be interested in. For instance, the Presbyterian Church (USA) may have a national online service where we can all join together with others across the country and even the world, to worship together separately. However we are “together” during this time, we will continue to be God’s people, supporting each other and our community.
